Zoo Escapees Gone Wild: assessing the population structure of invasive hippos using scat samples
Abstract
I generated preliminary genetic data from hippo scat samples I collected in Colombia to obtain first-pass estimates of the genetic diversity and population structure of these invasive hippos. This information gives a precursive understanding of the relationship among individuals within the invasive population.
