Anomalies on von Neumann algebras
Abstract
Connes showed that anomalies of finite cyclic groups can be realized in II_1 factor. Later, Jones showed that anomalies can be realized in II_1 factor for finite groups and Sutherland showed that for discrete groups. It remained open for 70 years old conjecture. We have shown anomalies can be realized in type III factors for certain compact groups.
